LIGHTHOUSE ELONGATED COIN SERIES
The Lighthouse Elongated Coin series consist of three sets of lighthouses.
The first set of 20 different lighthouses was a limited edition series. Only 300 of each design were rolled on uncirculated copper pennies, 60 were rolled on nickels and 60 were rolled on the statehood quarters in which the lighthouses are located. Numbered sets of (penny, nickel and quarter) #1 through #60 were sold in this series. The other 240 on uncirculated copper pennies were sold as individual designs. The lighthouses featured in this series are: Portland Head, ME; Cape Canaveral, FL; Assateague Island, VA; Highland Cape Cod, MA; Sandy Hook, NJ; Bodie Island, NC; Sand Island, AL; Fire Island, NY; Presque Isle, MI; New Port Harbor, RI; Cape Romain, SC; New Point Loma, CA; Fenwick Isle, DE; Windmill Point, VT; Marblehead Light, OH; Outer Isle, WI; South Pass, LA; Horn Island, MS; Split Rock, MN; and Cape Blanco, OR.
The second set of Lighthouse Elongated Coin series consists of 8 different designs and were titled "USA Lighthouses" and only 300 of each design were rolled on uncirculated pennies. The Lighthouses featured in this series are: Cape Hatteras, NC.; Key West, FL; Cape May, NJ; West Quoddy, ME; Drum Point, MD; Cape Lookout, NC; Kilauea Point, HI; and New London Ledge, CT.
The third set of Lighthouse Elongated Coin series consist of 6 different designs and were titled "FOREIGN LIGHTHOUSE SERIES" and only 300 of each design were rolled on uncirculated copper pennies. The foreign lighthouses featured in this series are: Dahmeshoved, Germany, Cape Bear, Canada; Ghania, Greece; Gammel Poel, Denmark; Ras el-Tin, Egypt and Hourdel, France.

Only 5 elongated nickels with the New Point Loma Lighthouse design has been authorized to be hand painted.
